Distant Lives by Alassa Distant Lives by Alassa
'It didn't matter the weather, the time, the mood. He was always there, his fingers filling the empty hallways with music. However, sometimes... not even the tones escaping the strings could help the atmosphere. The house was lonelier than ever. Three lives were taken for good. Too young all three of them. And another two gone far away. They were to come back. He knew they would. He hoped. He couldn't imagine what would be next otherwise. Seeing his older brother suffer like that, falling into the darkness of sorrow. Whole life of his... gone. In a single day. No more children's giggling. Only the tunes of younger brother's prayers trying to keep the house at least a memory of what it once was. At least until the two missing come back.'

Holy moly. I wanted to paint this picture for like three years or something? Never really dared, because of the ... well. The piano. I was always too scared to even try it. I mean, I tried. Once. Not ever again. Until now. <3 Not to mention ... You probably don't remember Jamie. The younger brother of Graham and Aderyn Wildes. The musician, the underestimated piece of chain. Well. He got a bit stronger and ... now when I look at how much the story changed since I created him... Wow. He's the one keeping things alive. The character, I created to piss everyone off, than I started liking him, eventually loving him and.. now he's the strong one there, holding the family together somehow. Woah. :'3

I love him so much and need to draw him more, because ... he really grew up from being that childish stupid idiot I created four years ago.

Also yes, seeing Hans from Frozen for the first time, I thought "Omg, Jamie combed his hair!

I can understand your fear for pianos since I never dared to draw one... but seeing how you achieved to make the keys look used and yet shiny and how you shaded them. I AM OFFICIALLY JEALOUS! XD
The flowers on the piano and the whole atmosphere of a somewhat dusty room with a piano where sunlight flows through the windows... amazing.

Looking at your art is always such a great thing. There are so many details to find.
Keep up the amazing work!!

Hahahah, yeaah. Terrible thing to draw. That's the one thing I am happy my former school somehow taught me. I am now able to model my own basic 3D box, add another box and then few more boxes, so I get a very basic base I can use as a perspective guide for sketching the piano now. Colouring it and painting the whole keys and everything, that's still a lot of work to deal with painting. Never downloading any models.
Glad you like it! It's been ages since I played the piano myself and in even more ancient times I actually played a piano, that had keys like this. Used, yet still clean. :) So this had a lot of nostalgy to it. n_n Thank you so very much! <3

This painting is so beautiful! I love the lighting you've set here to create this calm yet somehow absorbed (if that's the right word) mood. His focused and a little frustrated expression is perfect. You can really feel how he tries to scare away the emptiness in the house with his music but how it doesn't really work out.
And let's not start on all the small details on his clothes and the vase.

Aaaah! Thank you so so much! Your words made me so happy! I'm so glad you noticed! I wanted him to look like he loves what he's doing and he's really good at it, but this time it just isn't that easy. Thank you thank you thank you! :'333 Every single word for this boy brings joy to my heart! :'3
